Gospel City LIVE_CH@T: "Music That can Build its Listener from within and Cause them to Grow...is Gospel to me"

Nigeria has some of the best young men with very bright ideas that could indeed change the world.

We hooked up with one of such and had a good time getting to know more about him and his impressive projects.

Xuzia is an artiste, architect, media consultant and the project initiator of The Relief Ark, a humanitarian endeavor that gives succor to flood victims and other afflicted persons.

We had an official chat with him before making it official here...

Nice to meet you, X. Tell us about you and what u do, briefly.

Thank you for having me...where do I begin...My name is Nyenwe 'Xuzia' Sam-Woruka. I'm Nigerian (Rivers State - Ikwerre) I belong to the Music Militant, NuffCHAOS group in Port Harcourt city. Apart from being a practicing architect, I'm a Media Consultant, Producer and Artiste...among other things...life is good.

That's interesting. Tell us more about Music Millitant and nuffCHAOS.

The Music Militant setup is a movement run by different producers, artistes and media heads. Having no affiliation what so ever with violence and mostly prone to humor and controversy, they mainly push out good music to listeners...
NuffCHAOS is their production suite based in Nigeria

That's great. We heard you are involved in The Relief Ark. Tell us about it

The Relief Ark is a youth inspired group set up in Rivers State, Nigeria. It is a collaboration of all people, organizations and movements who are moved to make a difference in our societies. Having as its latest project the recent floods in the country, it aims to inspire the flood victims and help them financially, morally and emotionally in compliance with the government, youth, organizations and individuals.

It was indeed a trying period for our people but as usual, Nigerians do NOT go under...we always make it out one way or the other. We are survivors.

So how has the reaction/response to this cause been?

It has not been easy...not been easy at all. But it has been rewarding. Seeing the smiles on the faces of those we support is good enough motivation.

Ok. We saw an e-poster online with some artistes supporting the cause. What's the angle to it?

Entertainment has become one of the most efficient means of awareness. Different organizations in music, radio and tv were interested in the Relief Ark project for flood victims. They did all in their power to support the course.

These stars have crowds that they lead with their talent and lifestyle. With such people endorsing the project, trusted word travels fast, people are aware and support comes in. Also these stars will inspire the victims, encouraging them in different ways

That's a good one. In our other unofficial chat, u said something about 'conscious music' and 'gospel music'. What's ur stance on this? In other words, throw light on it

Hmmm...Music...when I was a child I could sit for hours and listen to just music, especially the heartfelt songs that told stories, folklore and theatre...I'm sometimes referred to as a storyteller and my music cuts across many genres.  Melodic & lyric-intensive.  I believe every song is a story or a poem told through music. I don't believe music comes in colors...its Music, it is all in itself. Music is the Truth. Music is a tool. Its not just a mindless sound.

Can you expantiate on ur explanation of 'gospel'...like u did in our unofficial chat.

Music that can heal a mind and soul. Music that can build its listener from within and cause them to grow and spread the truth it brings, make the sad child happy, the broken marriage whole, the confused man set straight...that to me is gospel. Then again there are different schools of thought to that regard.

How is work with your oncoming album?

Oh no album yet. For now I have a mixtape ready to go out for free download. 90% done. Good to go already.

The mixtape has 16tracks. Volume 1 is ready to go. This is my 'little'. I hope it reaches everyone in good fate and can touch them in places where they need it the most.

That's great. What do we expect from the mixtape? Also, which songs do you want music fans to watch out for?

Topics like 'inspire, love, soul search, encourage, God...' are covered in the collection. I'd like to say its my 'time in the studio'. All songs are tops for me so I can't point any out of the bunch. Listeners are different so I can't wait to hear which songs met them in areas of their interest!

I'm so excited about the mixtape. Finally these private thoughts can be heard. These messages can be delivered. These words can be turned into actions...

Wow. That's a strong angle to it.

Thank you for the stage...

We look forward to listening to the album when its ready. Do you have a fixed day for its release?

Oh sure! You will be updated accordingly! Already working on it. For sure, it is a 2013 project on my schedule

Ok. It was nice having you here
Thank you for the opportunity! I’m looking forward to getting back up here again soon, with even newer material.
