We had to do this...We guess you didnt see 'em coming!. Today, we proudly unveil our annual Gospel City Naija FEATURED ARTISTES AWARDS. The Gospel City Naija team have come together to present this noble effort of ours as a way of encouraging gospel artistes in Nigeria and all over the world.
2012 has been a great year. The number of gospel artistes featured on the blog as well as the impressive quality of their works propelled us to think of a way of encouraging them. And yes, what better way than to give them recognition and reward for doing the Lord's bidding?
Already, gospel artistes from around Nigeria have been commending the effort since we put it up in the early hours of the day.
Speaking about the awards, the team's Head of Communication & Publicity, Philip Asuquo, gave out a few pointers.
"The Lord has been faithful to our vision. The remarkable progress we have witnessed is a testimony to God's faithfullness and reward. We have seen the fruits of obedience and hard work on our team so we are looking beyond our noses in a bid to encourage every gospel artiste that has obeyed His call and are doing great with their music ministry.
"Gospel City Naija FEATURED ARTISTES AWARDS is a dedicated platform that gives recognition to every artiste that is featured on the blog. We get to review our content for the year and dole out awards that recognise worthwhile efforts. The vision was borne solely for recognition, not competition.
"This year, we are doing it strictly online. The subsequent ones will have a physical gathering of people to witness the awards. The vision is big but we chose to start it small online. The theme for this year's editition is 'Just Recognition...No Competition' because that is what this award is all about "
He went on to disclose that the award is subject to the scrutiny of the team and the number of views/downloads an artiste gets on Gospel City Naija. A date for the award and its categories will be announced soon. However, verification for recognition are ongoing. If an artiste wants to increase his chances of being picked, al, he has to do is go to the article we have on him/her and share it to his contacts on facebook, twitter, bbm etc. For artistes that havent been featured, send your profile,pix and song to gospelcitynaija@gmail.com.
