Last weekend, we gave you an iNTRO on Maranatha Christ Fest after speaking with its ebullient Nigerian-born 'spokeslady', Sophie Fey. In case you missed that post, the event is an annual gospel concert that brings 'pure' gospel artistes together to perform on the same stage in the UK. The event has been running for the past three years and has had several award-winning gospel acts on its stages.
Today, the big news is that one of UK's biggest gospel Rock band, Royal Foundlings, will be performing alongside other gospel greats in its oncoming 2013 edition. We promised to keep you updated on the event till it holds. Well, we are keeping that promise today by giving you an iNTRO on the Royal Foundlings....
Royal Foundlings have been gathering a following across the UK over the last 2 years on the strength of their powerful songs, the importance of their message and emphatic live performances. The band was even handpicked to support the American group and Grammy award winning band, Leeland, at the O2 Academy Glasgow due to word of lead singer and guitarist, Dave Brackenridge’s wild antics on stage.
Not only does the band record and release their own material via their own record label, they also work closely with other artists and help produce their singles. For example helping with and recording the debut singles for artists such as Nikki Hopkins (Gospel Rock Winner 2011), Aaron MKD and Amie Aitken.
In late 2011, the band recorded a collaboration with rising R’n’B singer/rapper El Mafrex for a single “Jehovah” and appeared in the accompanying video which has gained over 600,000 views on YouTube alone and been watched by millions worldwide on TV stations including, Vox Africa, Ben TV OHTV and more.
Royal Foundlings are passionate about God and exist to spread the good news of His word to as many people as possible. To help achieve this, the band hasn’t limited itself to recording albums and touring – they even have their own radio show on Revival FM that broadcasts around the world each week on the internet and on 100.8 fm in Scotland (broadcasting the “finest in Christian rock music”) as well as take their message into local communities, performing in schools, prisons and churches all over the UK.
To increase their audience around the world Royal Foundlings also released an acoustic album in August 2012 “Live and Unplugged” featuring artists Steph Macleod and Nikki Hopkins. The album was released on CD and DVD!! The album includes all your favourite Foundlings songs as well as some new songs written especially for this release! They are also about to embark on a 3 year long acoustic tour taking their music to new audiences around the UK and the rest of the world.
