Gospel City iNTRO: Meet Darryn Zewalk, our very first featured African-American Gospel Artiste

Gospel City Naija is  a searchlight of sorts that has put the spotlight on several gospel artistes that would have hitherto remained within their  circles. We have mostly been working with African artistes within and in the diaspora. Today, we are breaking the norm to bring you Darryn Zewalk, a remarkable African-American gospel artiste who is doing quite well in propagating the gospel through music and beyond in the USA.

Sometime last month, we got talking with him and he sent us a couple of materials on himself. We also had the privilege of getting his two singles. He is a fine gentleman with a fine spirit. Darryn Zewalk is an Independent Universal Gospel Singer/Songwriter and Arranger.

His music is best described as Universal Gospel a style that cross musical genres. His music is a testimony of what the Lord has brought him through and what the Lord will do for you when you surrender to him.

He listens to a variety of artists like  Kurt Carr, Kirk Franklin, Michael W. Smith, Martha Munizzi, Brooklyn Tabernacle, Arkansas Mass and many others. However, he says that his "two greatest inspirations regarding my songwriting style have been Lionel Richie and Barry Manilow".

He has been said to sound like Kirk Franklin, Marvin Saap, Fred Hammond and some other gospel greats.

Darryn is officially married and resides in Oklahoma. He has performed in several gospel platforms and we just might bring him to Africa. However, we promise to premier his songs right here on Gospel City!
