Gospel City iNTRO: Meet Arome, The Beguiling Gospel Rock Star with a Big Heart

You are right...its another Gospel City iNTRO! We are delighted to introduce yet another gospel act today. His name is Arome Rocks and yes, we love gospel rock!
Sometime last week, we got talking with Mr. Arome. That conversation extended to this week and we got to listen to his tracks. His soft rock got our ears. Today, the rest is history as we give him a full iNTRO on The City.
Beyond this, you will be getting gospel tracks from him on this blog as soon as they are ready for premier. In the mean time, get to know Arome on the Rocks!


Born Arome Adaji, Arome Rocks is one remarkable gospel rock artiste with an impressive panache for music. He was born to Elder and Late Mrs. Laraba. Y.Adaji and ails from Kogi state, Igala by tribe.  His parents are both active members of the local choir (Zumuta Mata) in Zaria, Nigeria. At a young age, he was taught how to play the drums and piano by a French Professor called Frank.B. This launched him into the world of music at a tender age.Arome is a song writer, performer goodWriter; he’s written five books and published one (Issues ofthe Heart). He is  proficient lyricist, philanthropist, songwriter and an instrumentalist.

At 10yrs, he was already single-handedly singing at the school Assembly and playing in the school band. When he was 15, he was in the mature choir of his church (Gospel Ministries Int’l Zaria). Arome’s encounter with the fusion of gospel contemporary African Hip-Hop started with sampling the works of Bishop Fred Addo, Kirk Franklin, Jeremy Camp, Bebe, Anthony Evans, Jesus Culture Rock Group and Dr Panam Percy Paul in 1987.

In 1995 he started a degree course in Theater Arts, at the University of Abuja and later moved to Ahmadu Bello University to study English Dram, then Masters in Communications. He founded and performed at all major concerts with his contemporary group then called the ‘The Epistles’ .  The group won several awards, most notably the best contemporary group on campus between 1999-2001.
 After graduation, Arome went to Lagos where he became a music director and worked with several groups and churches. In Lagos, he joined a group where he played several vocal roles (Faze2Faze, Victorious Music Team) and then later decided to pick up a banking job.

 He is the initiator of 'The Widow’s Mite Concert’ and ‘TheNigeria Child Fiesta’ which brings together different children from different orphanages in Abuja during the Christmas period for a live concert with various artistes.

His style of music cut across every ethnic group in Nigeria, because of his versatile style of singing with different languages in Africa.Arome has been produced by notable producers like Ty.mix, GospelonDbeats, Dr Sam, Niyi P, J Treash, Mallam T.Bass and Vc.Perez.

He has also worked with several  artistes like Samsong, Solomon Lange,(both who performed on his yet to be released 2012 CD ). Others are; The Disciples, Monica Ogah-(Project Fame 2012 Winner),Peter Adole, Temple, Didi, Ozor, T.Max, Jizu, Silas and currently working with-Sunnypraise(Milan) ,Eben,Kore, Steve Willis,TB1,Mallam T.Bass ,Frank Edwards, Obiwon, Midnight Crew and  Pst J. His music is a blend of Rock and Afro Beat.
