CiTYLiGHTS + EXCLUSIVE ::: Mowunmee, Bestowed for Kingdom Impact

We are indeed glad that we have children of God walking this earth who know the difference between being entertainers and music ministers.

We came in contact with one of them and after going through her profile, we got to know a whole lot more about her steadfast walk with God and commitment to propagating the gospel through her God-GIVEN gifts.

Her name is Mowunmee and she is one outstanding gospeller who has indeed amazed us. Even with her tedious career in the financial sector and impressive educational qualifications, Mrs. Mowunmee hasn't lost sight of her calling in God and does not relent in doting on the lovely family God has blessed her with.

Today, we put the CiTYLiGHTS on her just to get you familiar with her right before we premiere her songs and videos. Selah!

Real names Juliet Omowunmi Ewesomoh Odeyemi,  MOWUNMEE is a gospel artiste that keeps a grip on her calling and propagates the gospel through her music ministry.

She was born on December 29th and is the first child of a Christian family that has 7 children. Precisely, she is a native of Uzeba town, Owan west L.G.A. in Edo state, Nigeria. However, Mowunmee grew up largely in Lagos as she attended Prime-rose Nursery school, Anthony, Lagos, and later moved to José Maria Nursery & Primary school, Idimu, Lagos, where she completed my primary school education. She got admitted into Secondary school at an early age of 10 and this was an evidence of the intelligence this special daughter came with.

By the year 2000, she gained admission into the University of Lagos and graduated with a Second class upper degree in Cell Biology and Genetics. In 2012, I earned a Masters degree in International Management from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, and an MBA still in progress at the University of Lagos.

Her dad was a civil servant with the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a chartered Accountant, while her mum on the other hand was a Caterer and a hotel Manager. With parents of such standing, Mowunmee had a conducive and loving home where she grew up and bloomed into the amiable lady she is today.

Praising the Lord has always been a major part of her life, and growing up in a Christian home, with six other siblings who were also music lovers and instrumentalists helped increase her love for communicating with Christ through music. This eventually led to her deep rooted stance in spreading the gospel of Christ through music.

" I still have fond memories of those days when as early as age 5, I would sneak into the Choristers Barricade, pick up a microphone and start demonstrating and mimicking the lead singers. After several naughty pranks to reach the choir microphone, the Choir master noticed me one day, and spoke to my parents on my behalf to allow me attend choir rehearsals. They agreed and I practically floored a lot of senior members of the choir then with my surprisingly mature handling of the microphone and voice quality. There and then, I began to discover the hidden talent the Lord had implanted in me. After that time, there was no parish we attended without my presence in the choir and a lot of people testifying to the quality of my talent as a singer in the choir.", she recollects.

Confident of God's gift bestowed upon her through her impressive vocals and song writing skills, Mowunmee has taken her muse with gospel music to the professional level with the grace of God. She also recounts a experience that gave her a clear vision of God's calling for her life

" As I slept that night [ The night she gave her life to Christ] , I had a dream that gave birth to this ministry and that has shaped my life thus so far. In my dream Christ appeared to me as a man covered in white shining light that I could not even behold his face. I knelt at His feet and wept, then with a comforting voice, full of so much compassion, He asked me to make just one request from Him; that He was willing to grant me anything I asked. So I said, "Lord, please I want to go to Paradise with you", He looked at me with so much love and said to me, "Not now, my child, because you have a mission to accomplish for me here on earth".

"I was a little disappointed, yet I listened on as he gave me the same mission he gave the disciples when he was ascending into heaven,"Go ye into the world and preach the Gospel" (Mark 16 vs. 15), but mine was to be in another form. Christ sent me on a mission to communicate to the world through music, to evangelize and win souls into the kingdom of God, and then only, can my wish be granted. That is my own great commission, and that is what I have been trying to achieve in the last 20 years of my life."

With such a crystal-clear picture of her mission on earth, Mowunmee has never let anything overshadow her music ministry. While in school, she combined music ministry with her education and this was a mere learning ground for her because, today, she combines her career in the financial sector with her music ministry.

She joined the CCC Central Choir, (a mass choir for the Celestial Church of Christ worldwide) in 2006, a choir led by a great Musicologist and dean of Faculty of Music at The Polytechnic Ibadan - Dr. Oluwole Adetiran. Just as expected for a chosen one by Christ, the Director of Music noticed her after a few performances.

" There was a particularly very important performance the choir was meant to minister at, and the lead soprano singer was unavoidably absent, and just about some hours to the beginning of the ministration, my DM called me and said, "Wunmi, get ready to take on the lead for tonight's performance". I was dazed ....lead at a mass choir? But I got on my knees and prayed to God to save me from embarrassing myself in front of a large gathering of worshippers. Behold, he heard, with Christ on my side, and my wonderful husband who kept encouraging me, that night marked a new turning point for me in my life, and before I knew it, I was a regular lead performer in the Central Choir, by His Grace", she proffered.

This experience led to another stage of her life - professional music production. With the support of her husband, she took the ministry further by working on her debut album. She earnestly began working on some of her previously composed songs and also wrote new ones. She finally successfully recorded an album of 10 inspiring songs that would bring you closer to Christ as you put your ears to it.

Speaking about the album, Mowunmee said: " I pray that the messages embedded in these songs will touch your heart and make you turn to Christ, and if you are already born-again, may these songs inspire you to constantly watch and pray, remembering that the end time is now, and give you that grace to work steadfastly to win souls for Christ. I love all my songs, but there are 2 that are very dear to my heart, ÖLUWA NBE LÁAFIN and HIS GRACE. "

She makes it clear that she is not an entertainer, but an end-time minister for Christ. She holds this truism quite firmly and will never trade her identity as God's messenger for the flimsy act of being a mere entertainer.

Besides music, Mowunmee is a happily married wife to Mr. David Odeyemi and loving mum with three lovely kids - Abel, Sarah and Isaac - and is  currently employed in one of Nigeria's leading financial Institutions. She also enjoys meeting people, reading and teaching children about Christ.
