'Oh Koko'...Last week, this song was released and caused more than a stir online. Aside from having a heavy assemblage of top gospel artistes, the song has quite a catchy hook and impressive delivery by the said artistes. within 48 hours, the track had more than 10,000 downloads and is still counted. We had to talk to the artiste behind it - Ada - and she opened up on it.

Okay, tell us, what's the meaning of Oh Koko?
‘Oh koko’ means wonder. Ifuru nk'omere means ‘have you seen what He (God) has done in/for/through me?’. Okokokoko means wonder ie “He has made me a wonder”
Cool. So tell us, what inspired this song?
The words and music came to me in my room. As soon as I sang it out to my producer, he just got the picture, and knew what to do. We recorded it last year.
You had quite an ensemble on the track. How did u pull them together? And was having all of them on the track your original plan?
Yeah, it was. Initially, I planned to sing the hook only. We invited them, played it and watched them respond. We knew most artiste would be able to relate with it because it’s uniquely different and not the usual flow most acts are used to. So these guys, as soon as they each heard it, went for it. It didn't take any of them more than 10mins to write and record their parts. After their parts, they were like, aren't u doing any bars? And I was like “No”…then my producer was like ‘You must.....’ Hence my part.......dem say make I sing o…Na why I follow do my verse...

Yeah, that was like 24hs after release but the last count we have, as of last Saturday was over 11,000

Grace… I also attribute it to consistency especially as the three previous singles were widely successful with ‘Bobo Me’ and ‘I'm rich’ recording more success. Also, the success of the guys I had on the track attributed to it. They are reputed for quality.

Firstly, be filled and led by the Holy Spirit. Secondly, record good songs. Its also necessary that you locate your audience then strategically get them interested in your music…Be prayerful too.
