It was a home-coming of sorts for the award-winning act, eL Mafrex, when he recently dropped into the campus radio station of the college from which he obtained his first degree in Nigeria. Hosted live on the popular celebrity program, The Connoisseur Show, the artiste was put on the hot seat and belted out answers to questions posed at him by the show's host, Ifreke Nseowo.
As it is the custom of the program, El Mafrex talked about his sojourn into the entertainment industry, his experience in Scotland, family and other interesting issues. From nostalgic recounts to projections about his recent MOBO Awards nomination, the artiste held his listeners spell-bound and tracks from his all-gospel playlist was served.
His playlist included tracks by Mbomboyo, Papa San, Mary Mary, Dani Andi, himself amongst other artistes. Gospel City was fully represented in the building.
El Mafrex, the first black man ever to win the Scottish New Music Award and a nominee for the forthcoming Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Award. He studied Physics and majored in Electronics at the University of Uyo in Nigeria, of which he graduated in 2006. In 2010 he obtained a Masters degree in Information Systems Development from the Edinburgh Napier University, Edinburgh, UK. .
The Connoisseur Show is a program off the stables of media conglomerate – Connoisseur Communications Nigeria (CCN) owned by Nigeria’s Youngest Editor Ifreke Nseowo. It airs every Sunday on Uniuyo Fm 100.7Mhz by 6pm.
